Boyd's argument is well backed by her expert use of rhetorical tactics such as analytical parallels, ethos and pathos appeals, and personal stories. Her work is fascinating and thought-provoking, prompting a rethinking of the true cost of an elite education due to her ability to engage readers on both an academic and emotional level. Boyd's findings compel us to consider both the reputation of these enterprises and the significant costs that come with them.
I love how you kept your blog post short but made sure to cover the entire assignment. I definitely agree with you that Boyd's work is fascinating and thought provoking. I believe that she provides her readers a different prospective and even allow them to become better writers.
ReplyDeleteBoyd's work is indeed something worth looking over by those who take interest in the rhetorical aspect of writing, or really writing at all. An interesting perspective on a subject that plagues the minds of young writers from an expert is always something to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI too, enjoyed Boyd's use of rhetoical strageties. I just loved the detective analogy exercise! Her essay made it easier for someone to understand what using rhetoric really means. Maybe, the only thing that would have made your blog post even better is possibly using a quote from her essay to build credibilty and to get a snippit of her essay to understand and back up what you are trying to say in your blog post.
